  W. L. Hall Company RBC Gateway Tower Project

Located in the bustling downtown of Minneapolis, the RBC Gateway Tower stands tall as a magnificent multipurpose building that spans 38 stories. The tower houses office spaces, apartments, and hotel rooms, providing a perfect blend of work, play, and living under one roof.

Our contributions to the RBC Gateway Tower were extensive. They included the installation of storefronts for parking areas and other common spaces, along with numerous Trex handrail systems throughout the building. We also took great pride in installing sleek and modern hollow metal glass in the elegant elevator lobbies of the office tower section, adding to the overall sophistication and style of the building.

The Challenge:

As one of the numerous glazing contractors involved in this project, W. L. Hall Company was tasked with extensive glasswork. Throughout the project, frequent updates and changes were released in large batches, necessitating a keen focus on our specific work scope.

To remain current with the project's evolving requirements, we carefully scrutinized each new update, narrowing it down to just our area of responsibility and meticulously reviewing our drawings to ensure they remained accurate. As a result, over nearly two years and with more than 50 releases of changes, we successfully completed our work with minimal rework required, a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence.

What We Did:

Our contribution to the building included the installation of several elevator lobby CMI storefronts in the parking levels beneath the building, along with a prominent storefront in the second-floor skyway lobby elevator. Additionally, we utilized our proprietary W. L. Hall smoke baffle channel with Old Castle Glass to provide a smoke baffle for smoke containment at the first-level escalator.

To ensure the safety of the occupants and visitors to the building, we installed Trex handrail systems at four different locations. These included an outdoor ramp to prevent falls over the top of a valet ramp on the north side of the building, an outdoor dining space with a handrail for wind prevention on the first level, and railings at the skyway elevator lobby and around the escalator. The amenity deck's outdoor pool area also received our expert attention by installing a guardrail that limits access to the pool. This included two gates that require key cards for entry, providing a secure and safe environment for swimmers.

Furthermore, we installed stunning hollow metal glass in the loading dock areas and elevator lobbies from levels 11-21, adding to the building's overall aesthetic appeal. Our meticulous and detail-oriented work ensured that each installation was completed to the highest standards.

The Outcome:

Our attention to detail and commitment to quality resulted in outstanding outcomes. Overall, we are proud to have been part of this landmark venture that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the Minneapolis skyline
